Just a short trip in the longest sublevel tunnel fra Stavanger, you’ll find the charming municipality of Strand. A municipality that offers a numerous of historical monuments from the Vikings and the Bronze Age, great access to the coast and lots of amazing hiking trails and scenery of Ryfylket.

The most popular attraction in Ryfylket, and probably in Norway is «Preikestolen» also called «The Pulpit Rock». It’s a well known photo subject, and has been named one of the most spectacular viewing points by both CNN and Lonely Planet. It rises 604 metres above the Lysefjords, and has hundreds of thousands visitors every year.

If you head up north from Strand, you will be able to roadtrip on one of the 18 national roads of tourists in Norway, called Rv. 13 and Fv. 520 which offers a beautiful scenery of fjords and mountains. Stop by Hjelmeland which is known for its fruit and fish production, and you can visit the world biggest chair of “Jærstol”, a traditional chair. This is a town with lots of activity during the summer where you can visit restaurants, go on a boattrip in Jøsenfjord, or hike one of the many trails.

Right outside of Jørpeland, you’ll find Jørpelandsholmen. A small island with tons of possibilities for activities and hiking. From here, you can see Klungholmen and the artwork “Solspeilet”, the sunmirror – the Norwegian Stonehenge. In other words, Ryfylke has a lot to offer. From beautiful scenery, to small villages with houses from the 18th century.
